Alessi Sapper Kettle with Melodic Whistle Overview

This was the first 'designer kettle' by Alessi, designed by Richard Sapper over a three year period, and launched in 1983. It has gone on to be one of the company's best selling products. The true heart of this design lies in the brass melodic whistle which has two pipes which sound two notes, mi and si when the steam flows, giving the kettle a particularly attractive melody. Sapper wanted to avoid giving the kettle the usual irksome sound of other kettles on the market and this purely musical requirement led to Alessi's first multi-sensorial design. The kettle also features a unique lever pull which raises the whistle away from the spout to enable filling. It's appealing you can't fail to love this kettle. Design: Richard Sapper, 1983 for Alessi, Italy.
